Specialized care still means leaving Hunterdon, and the county's own options thin out at the line: LINK Demand Response states plainly that trips must originate and terminate inside Hunterdon County, its one bus route across the line — Route 23 — runs from Flemington borough to a community college, a mall and the Somerville train station rather than to a hospital, and the county's volunteer driver program for out-of-county appointments asks for two weeks' notice and a visit booked between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Out toward Copper Hill, Croton and Reaville the addresses are rural — long driveways, gravel, grade, no curb to work from — so we ask about the approach before the day of the trip.
