Secaucus has a hospital inside its own borders, which is not something every Hudson County town can say. Secaucus University Hospital at 55 Meadowlands Parkway — the former Hudson Regional Hospital, renamed in June 2025 when Hudson Regional Health absorbed the old CarePoint hospitals — keeps a 24-hour emergency department minutes from most of the town. Further along the same road, Fresenius Kidney Care Secaucus at 200 Meadowlands Parkway runs in-center hemodialysis six days a week, opening at 5 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 6 a.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Those early Meadowlands Parkway runs are the bulk of what a wheelchair van does here, along with the ride home when someone is too wrung out to manage a car door.

What Secaucus does not have, it drives to. Route 3 runs east-west and the Turnpike's Eastern Spur runs north-south, dividing the town into four parts, so a trip from the North End — everything above Route 3, tied to the rest of town by Paterson Plank Road and its cloverleaf under the highway — down to an appointment on County Avenue is not a straight local street. Longer trips follow the same roads: south to Jersey City Medical Center on Grand Street, Hudson County's Level II trauma center; to Hoboken University Hospital on Willow Avenue; east to Palisades Medical Center on River Road in North Bergen. None of those are Secaucus addresses, and it matters — each one is a different set of ramps and curb cuts for someone riding in their own wheelchair.

The town runs a medical escort and senior shuttle out of its Senior Services office on Paterson Plank Road, weekdays nine to four. It is genuinely useful and genuinely bounded. A 6 a.m. Saturday dialysis chair, a discharge from Alaris Health at The Fountains on County Avenue at nine on a Sunday night, a follow-up in Jersey City that runs past four — those fall outside it.
