Route 322 comes in from the west as Mullica Hill Road: head out that way and you pass Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill, the acute-care hospital at 700 Mullica Hill Road with a 24-hour emergency department, with the Route 55 interchange at Exits 50A-B just beyond it. Inside the borough, 322 bisects the Rowan University campus at the Rowan Boulevard roundabout — the same Rowan Boulevard the Inspira health center sits on — then turns south onto Delsea Drive and runs together with Route 47 for a few commercial blocks between West Street and High Street before splitting off east. Follow that same Delsea Drive north instead and it crosses into Washington Township, where Jefferson Washington Township Hospital is. Keep going north and you reach Cooper University Hospital at 1 Cooper Plaza in Camden, one of only three state-designated Level I trauma centers in New Jersey and the teaching hospital of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, whose home campus is right here. That concurrency block on Delsea Drive is three lanes of storefront traffic with nowhere safe to put a ramp down, so our drivers pull into driveways and lots and load off the roadway rather than at the curb.

Gloucester County's Division of Transportation Services runs non-emergency medical rides for county residents, and it is a real program worth using — but it runs Monday through Friday only. Its own application form even steers dialysis patients away from the online request and tells them to book through the social worker at their treatment center instead. That leaves a lot uncovered: a 5:30 a.m. chair time, a Saturday discharge from Mullica Hill, an appointment booked yesterday, a rider who cannot get from the front door to the curb without a hand. That is the gap Delta covers. There is no Delta depot in Glassboro — the vans roll from Totowa — but dispatch answers 24 hours a day, seven days a week, drivers help door through door, and the rider stays in their own wheelchair, secured with a four-point tie-down and a lap-and-shoulder belt.
