The practical consequence is that Vineland is not simply a city that happens to have a hospital — it is the hospital city for Cumberland County, so wheelchair-van traffic runs inbound from Millville, Bridgeton and the surrounding townships as much as it moves within Vineland. The Frank and Edith Scarpa Regional Cancer Pavilion sits on that same Sherman Avenue campus. Outpatient rehab and speech therapy continue at Inspira Health Center Vineland on East Chestnut Avenue, and Inspira Health Center Bridgeton on Irving Avenue runs a 24/7 satellite emergency department whose admissions transfer back to Vineland.

Dialysis is the steadiest wheelchair-van work in Vineland. DaVita Vineland Dialysis on South Main Road and Fresenius Kidney Care Vineland on West Sherman Avenue both run in-center chairs, and Fresenius is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. A patient on a three-day-a-week schedule needs a van that arrives at the same time every time, not a ride renegotiated each week. The Cumberland Area Transit System does real work for county residents, but it is demand-response, runs Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., asks for at least two days' notice and stays inside county lines.
