Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation leased 36 beds inside the Saddle Brook/Kennedy Memorial Hospital on Market Street in 1986, acquired the hospital outright in 1993, and today runs a 112-bed, four-story inpatient rehabilitation hospital on that site — stroke, brain injury, amputation, joint replacement, orthopedic trauma. U.S. Route 46 clips the southwestern corner for six-tenths of a mile, and Routes 4 and 17 come within a quarter mile of the borders without ever entering.
